The primary objective of this paper is to contribute to the debate featured in Revista Vínculos. Sociología, análisis y opinión concerning the processes shaping the current configuration of the university. It is important to note that this debate involves a multitude of approaches that go beyond the scope of each article published in this issue of the journal. Therefore, I consider it essential to condense in this paper the key elements related to the type of content desired for university education, which is central to any reflection on the kind of model we want, the scope and limitations of the prevailing model, and the challenges it poses for the formation of critical citizens capable of influencing social processes through the content of scientific education.Published
